Mr. Efendy received his first degree in Bachelor of Science with first class honors from the University of Queensland. He pursued his interest in medicine and completed his Medical Degree in 2003 from University of Queensland. One of his passions is teaching. He has worked and helped to develop the school of anatomy for Griffith University in the Gold Coast.. He was involved in teaching medical , nursing and allied health students and was given title of associate lecturer for University of Queensland, Queensland University of technology and also Griffith University. He received his Doctor of philosophy for his thesis in ” the use of peritoneal granulation tissue as a vascular graft” and for which he received the
“Justin-M iller medal” for his work from the vascular surgery division of the Royal Australasian College of Surgeon. He continued his interest in neurosurgery . He received subspecialty training in the management of brain, spine and peripheral nerve pathology under various neurosurgeons in Brisbane (both at Royal Brisbane Adult and Children hospital and Princess Alexandra hospital), Gold Coast and Sydney (Westmead Adult and Childrens Hospital and Liverpool Hospita ls) . He also has attended the Neurosurgery units in Singapore and -Germany for further development in his neurosurgical training.

His main interests are in endoscopic assisted microneurosurgery and minimally invasive spine surgery. He also has interests in remote neurosurgery services including management of cerebral and spinal infections in the tropics. He has moved to Darwin and has been actively involve with setting up a Neursurgery service in Darwin with his colleague Dr Michael Redmond.

Mr Efendy is a Fellow of the Royal Australasian College of Surgeons and a Member of the Neurosurgical Society of Australasia, and AANS/CNS/WFNS societies

He is a full time consultant neurosurgeon at the Royal Darwin Hospital and has a specialist credentials in both Darwin Private hospital and also Sydney South West Private hospital.
